Forced Ranking

It is a performance management system that requires managers to rank employees in order of perceived job performance. This system is known as "rank and yank" or "stack ranking." Typically, employees are ranked on a scale of 1 to 5, with the top 20% receiving a score of 4 or 5, the middle 70% receiving a score of 3, and the bottom 10% receiving a score of 1 or 2. The employees who receive the lowest scores may be subject to disciplinary action, including termination.
