Featherbedding

It is a term used to describe artificially creating jobs or increasing the number of employees in a company or Organization, often to reduce unemployment or increase profits. This can include hiring more workers than necessary, requiring more workers to perform a task, or creating unnecessary job positions. The term is often used in reference to labor unions, where it may refer to requiring employers to hire more workers than are necessary for a particular job or to pay employees for work that is not performed.
